Cryosurgery is a treatment for early-stage prostate cancer. During cryosurgery, several needles are inserted into the prostate and very cold gasses freeze and destroy the prostate.

Cryosurgery is usually only used when other treatments have not been successful. Although the procedure is less invasive than a radical prostatectomy, it is done under general anesthesia or with a spinal epidural so you cannot feel it.
